McDowell Place of Danville offers a home-like atmosphere for individuals who want to maintain their independent lifestyle or for those who may need some supervision each day. Our professional team of administrators and caregivers provides individualized care and attention 24 hours a day.

 

All residents receive a complimentary membership to McDowell Wellness Center and HealthRewards, a program offering certain discounts to seniors as well as regularly planned social events and travel opportunities.

For all of our residents, we offer:

• A safe environment

• Meals with menu selection

• A caring staff, 24 hours a day

• Transportation assistance

• Entertainment with daily activities

• Companionship

• Private apartments and mailboxes

• An emergency response system in each apartment

• Basic housekeeping

• Personal laundry service

• A beauty salon (including pedicures & manicures)

• Initial and quarterly functional needs assessments to best determine and meet resident's needs

• Weekly health and wellness checks

• A chapel

• A private dining room for family celebrations

• Individual phone service in each apartment

• Cable television and computer hook-up capability

• A running and walking trail

• Guest suites for overnight guests

• Personal banking on-site

• Courtyards with outdoor furniture for residents and families

• A piano for residents and families to enjoy

• A smoke-free environment

We offer four levels of care to meet the needs of individuals who call McDowell Place their home.

Independent Living - This level of care allows residents to maintain their independent lifestyle and provides:

• Three meals a day plus snacks

• Housekeeping services

• Laundry services

• Apartment maintenance

• Activities

• Transportation
  

In this level of care, individuals may come and go as they please. Parking is available for all residents who have their own vehicle. All independent living residents are capable of and do take their own medications.

Assisted Living - This level of care is available to individuals who need more care than is offered in independent living. It offers assistance with everyday activities such as: 

• Bathing

• Dressing

• Grooming

• Assistance with self-administration of medications

In addition, all amenities and services listed in the independent living section are included. Independent living residents do not need to move from their current apartment in order to receive additional services. 

Personal Care - This level of care is offered to residents when assisted living is no longer an option. Care includes a nurse to:

• Administer medications

• Assist with monitoring any medical problems

Respite Care- This level of care can be used in many situations such as: 

• You are recovering from an accident or surgery and are not quite ready to go home from the hospital. For example, one resident needed to have eye drops administered following eye surgery and stayed with us for a few days. 

• A friend or family member who takes care of you is out of town. 

• You are not sure if McDowell Place of Danville is for you. You can come and stay with us for a few days, weeks or a month.
